🌞 Light: Very bright light is essential. Provide several hours of direct morning sun or strong grow lighting for the best coloration and dew production. Adequate light encourages compact growth and vibrant red tones.

💧 Water: Keep the growing medium consistently wet using the tray method. Place the pot in approximately ½ to 1 inch of water and refill as needed. Use only distilled water, reverse-osmosis (RO) water, or clean rainwater. Avoid tap, spring, and drinking water containing dissolved minerals.

💦 Humidity: Adaptable to average household humidity when properly watered. Moderate humidity around 40% or higher is generally sufficient. Strong lighting is more important than extremely high humidity for healthy dew production.

🌡️ Temperature: Thrives between approximately 60 and 85°F (16 to 29°C). Drosera spatulata is a tropical/subtropical sundew and generally does not require a winter dormancy period.

🌱 Soil: Requires nutrient-poor carnivorous plant media. A mixture of sphagnum peat moss and perlite or long-fiber sphagnum works well. Never use standard potting soil, compost, fertilizer-enriched soil, or mixes containing added nutrients.

🌿 Fertilizer: Do not fertilize the soil. Sundews obtain nutrients by capturing small insects with their sticky leaves. Supplemental feeding is generally unnecessary when insects are available.
